LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS
DUI CHECKPOINT NETS 12 ARRESTS - 5 DUI ARRESTS FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS

LOMPOC- DECEMBER 21st, 2009

The Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Friday December 18, 2009 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety.  This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of Friday’s checkpoint was in the 900 block of east Ocean Avenue.  The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. 

The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:

Driving on a suspended license                            11
Drivers evaluated for D.U.I                                  33 Drivers were drinking but under the limit
D.U.I arrests                                                            3   
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold                        11
Vehicles towed for a 1-day hold                            1                         
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint                 775

Lompoc Officers with the assistance of other members of the “Avoid the 12” DUI enforcement campaign conducted a multi agency checkpoint in the 200 block of north H Street Saturday December 19, 2009.  That checkpoint resulted in 2 additional DUI arrests with one of those drivers having cocaine in his possession and was arrested for DUI, Possession of Drugs, and Child Endangerment due to having a child in the car with him

These checkpoints were funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!
