LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS

LOMPOC- August 24th, 2009

The Lompoc Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education.  On Friday August 21st, 2009 the Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint in the 300 block of North "O" Street . The purpose of the checkpoint was not only to detect and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol / drugs, but also locate drivers who were unlicensed, as well as remind everyone of the dangers of impaired driving. 

The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:

Driving without a drivers license arrest                             5           

Driving on a suspended license arrest                                2                         

Drivers evaluated for sobriety (D.U.I)                              19

Vehicles impounded/towed for a 30-day hold                     6

Vehicles impounded/towed for a 1-day hold                       1                         

Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint                               650

 Funding for this DUI checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
