LOMPOC P.D. DUI / Drivers License Checkpoint Nets 10 Arrests

The Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Sunday June 29, 2010 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety. This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of the checkpoint was in the 1500 block of east Laurel Avenue and then the 1500 block of east Ocean Avenue. The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing unlicensed and impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:
Driving without a drivers license 9
Driving on a suspended license 1
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold 6
Vehicles towed for a 1-day hold 3
Vehicle forfeited 1
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint 425
Miscellaneous traffic stops/citations 9
Drivers evaluated for D.U.I 20 (These drivers were drinking but under the legal limit and not arrested)
Driver arrested for false identification 1
