LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS
NETS 5 Arrests

LOMPOC- MARCH 29th, 2010

The Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Friday March 27, 2010 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety.  This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of the checkpoint was in the 700 block of east Central Avenue for east bound traffic.  The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Driving without a drivers license                          1           

Driving on a suspended license                                 4

Drivers evaluated for D.U.I                                18 Drivers were drinking but under the limit of .08

Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold                          3

The driver arrested for DUI was under the influence of illegal narcotics, multiple prescription medications prescribed and not prescribed to him and also alcohol.  He was also driving through the checkpoint smoking marijuana.  He was uncooperative and wanted to fight an officer but when told he was going to be Tasered he became cooperative.

 The checkpoints were funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!
