Saturation Patrols To Target DUI Drivers
Lompoc - January 14th, 2008
No day will be safe for impaired drivers this summer. The Lompoc Police Department will be conducting enforcement patrols looking for DUI drivers starting January 20 through September 30, 2008. On varied days throughout the year one officer will be assigned strictly to DUI enforcement, driving a marked patrol car or unmarked undercover car, so drivers may never know that the car next to them is a police car on the hunt for a DUI driver.
The purpose of the proactive patrols is for locating people driving under the influence of illegal drugs, some prescription medication, or alcohol, and driving with no license or a suspended license. People found to be driving while not licensed or under the influence can expect to be arrested and their cars either impounded or forfeited.
Performing proactive DUI enforcement sends a message to the driving public that we care about their safety. The Lompoc Police Department is committed to driver safety and will enforce DUI laws with every tool available including stakeouts, saturation patrols, and checkpoints.
This portion of our aggressive DUI enforcement operation is being conducted through a grant. Funding for the grant comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
