LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS
DUI CHECKPOINT NETS 5 ARRESTS

LOMPOC- JANUARY 4TH, 2010

The Lompoc Police Department conducted two DUI/Drivers License Checkpoints on Friday January 1 and Saturday January 2, 2010 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety.  The checkpoints were two of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of the checkpoints were in the 1300 block of north H Street for north bound traffic and 300 west College Avenue for both east and west bound traffic.  The goal of the DUI Checkpoints was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. 

A driver of one vehicle was arrested after it was found he was under the legal limit but was drinking in violation of his probation terms.

One of the drivers arrested for driving unlicensed had previously been arrested for driving unlicensed.

The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoints:

Driving without a drivers license                        5           
Drivers evaluated for D.U.I                               19 Drivers were drinking but under the limit of .08
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold                       2
Vehicles towed for a 1-day hold                         3                         
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoints             1,250
Miscellaneous citation                                         1
Driving on a restricted license                            1

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!
